After eight years of full focus on his band Mooneye, Michiel Libberecht steps out for the first time under his own name, and that in his mother tongue: West Flemish. Armed with his acoustic guitar and inspired by his heroes Townes Van Zandt, Adrianne Lenker, Jeff Tweedy, and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, he searches for honest, pure songs.
The melancholic character of the music resonates in both the voice and the lyrics, but humor and self-deprecation are also never far away. There is the love for language and melody, but also the eternal restlessness to write another song in the hope of getting a little closer to himself and/or the truth.
