In our country, more than 202,000 people live with dementia today. If no effective medicine is found, that number could rise to 350,000 by 2050. Dementia affects not only the person themselves, but also the people in their environment. Hoofd vol mist is a poignant theater monologue about dementia, based on Het Vergeetboek van Kees Opmeer and Vlinderpark Alzheimer van Johan Van Oers. Directed by Magda Van der Aa, these texts were transformed into a theater production of about 75 minutes, with live played saxophone music. The performance weaves two storylines. On the one hand, there is the personal story of a granddaughter who talks about the process her grandmother is going through. On the other hand, the story of the person with dementia and their loved ones is told. That second line remains deliberately more general, so that spectators can recognize themselves in it and the story can simultaneously become very personal.
