Alternating, daughter Elien and father Wim Van Den Broeck provide a musical segment this afternoon in this concert. Elien mainly takes care of a number of baroque works and concludes with the well-known and virtuosic Circus Renz. Wim pays tribute to the many mothers on this Mariale Hoogdag via chansons and also improvises on well-known Marian songs. Elien started her carillon studies in Peer at the age of nine. She graduated from the carillon school in Mechelen at the age of 16. At a young age, she already won two international carillon competitions (Deinze and St. Amand-les-Eaux). She has already performed on various carillons in Belgium, the Netherlands, and the USA. Elien was appointed carillonneur of the Abbey of Postel in 2018. Wim started his music studies for organ and carillon at an adult age. Wim is currently a carillonneur in Diest, Genk, and Peer and was chairman of the Vlaamse Beiaard association from 2019 to 2025.
