Her father wants to sacrifice her. Not to an enemy - to a goddess. Just for wind. Just to be able to sail to Troy. Just to finally be able to wage war. Maar Iphigenia says: no. In the hands of the celebrated Portuguese writer and theater maker Tiago Rodrigues, this ancient tragedy becomes a radical re-reading. Iphigenia no longer suffers her fate passively. She decides on it herself. Just like Antigone, she gives her own life meaning, instead of submitting to divine arbitrariness or the plans of men who are so eager to see blood. Rodrigues constantly questions the story. History becomes memory, memory becomes dialogue. What do we still know of the original? Can it be done differently? Who bears guilt, and how do you resist? Nine players ponder those questions and show what war really is: not a matter of politics, but of the human price that is paid for it. Every generation again.
