Anniversary concert - Paukenmesse - Joseph Haydn - Flanders Boys Choir celebrates 95th birthday

War leaves deep traces. Not only on those who experience it directly, but also on subsequent generations. The silence about pain and the passing on of trauma make it clear that war is never truly over. Yet we all long for the same thing: rest, connection, and peace. Music can give that longing a voice. It transcends borders, brings people together, and offers comfort where words fall short. That is why the Flanders Boys Choir is presenting a special and meaningful anniversary concert in November 2026, on the occasion of our 95th anniversary. On the program is the monumental *Missa in Tempore Belli* (“Mass in Time of War”) by Joseph Haydn – a powerful work that originated in a period of threat and uncertainty. A time that, unfortunately, still feels recognizable today. Children are often among the first victims of war. That makes it all the more meaningful that a boys' choir brings this music to life. Our anniversary concert will take place on November 11, 2026, in Sint-Niklaas. PROGRAM – Missa in Tempore Belli (Paukenmesse) – Joseph Haydn – Motet: Insanae et vanae curae – Joseph Haydn – Cello Concerto No. 1 – Joseph Haydn Het will be a unique and historical performance of this program. In addition to the use of authentic instrumentation, the choir composition is also special: boys and men sing together, as Haydn himself performed it. Mark the date in your calendar!
