Between Midsummer and Christmas Night

This concert brings together three beloved masterpieces in an atmospheric program for piano four-hands. The rich orchestral sounds of these compositions receive a surprisingly intimate and transparent dimension in this arrangement, in which the refinement of the music comes into its own. The program opens with a selection from A Midsummer Night’s Dream van Felix Mendelssohn. This music evokes the magical world of fairies, elves, and dreams, culminating in the world-famous wedding march that has been linked to festive wedding ceremonies for generations. Next sounds Ma mère l’Oye van Maurice Ravel, an enchanting suite inspired by well-known fairy tales. With an exceptional sense of color and atmosphere, Ravel paints a musical universe full of fantasy, tenderness, and poetry. The concert concludes with a selection from The Nutcracker van Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This beloved music takes the audience to a wonderful Christmas world full of dancing snowflakes, colorful character dances, and unforgettable melodies. Van Shakespeareaanse dream images about fairy-tale stories to the magic of Christmas: this program shows how two pianists at one keyboard can evoke a whole world of imagination. IZUMI Piano Duo, one of the leading piano duos in Belgium. They started their career by winning numerous prestigious international competitions. The duo gave recitals on the prominent stages of Europe and Asia. For example, they performed with the Volgograd Academic Symphonic Orchestra and during the festival ‘Klara in the Singel’.
