Reveil - Illuminated Beach

On Saturday 7 November 2026, the beach of Oostend, from the Kursaal to the Wellingtonrenbaan, transforms into a sea of light. Stad Oostende and Reveil vzw bring together more than 10,000 LED candles during Strand Verlicht, a warm and connecting moment to pause and reflect on those we miss. With a free candle package, you can form a star, a heart, or the initials of a loved one yourself in the sand. Together, we thus create special points of light by the sea. Between 18:00 and 21:00, the thousands of candles on the beach create a subdued atmosphere, while pianist Mattias Devriendt provides calming music. The lights on the beach together form a mirror of the sky: a moment of remembrance, connection, and comfort. Praktisch Zaterdag 7 November 2026 17:00 – 18:00: collection of the candle packages (upon reservation) under the Koninklijke Gaanderijen (Koning Boudewijnpromenade, between De Drie Gapers and the Thermae Palace Hotel) 18:00 – 21:00: Strand Verlicht Een candle package contains 20 cups and LED candles and is free.
