On a patch of land surrounded by sea, where people have been fighting against the water for generations, the city walls and watchtowers completely cut off the inhabitants from the water around them. Everything that is wet is forbidden. Every morning the sea is spat upon and cursed, and anyone who has anything to do with water is punished. One night, a gigantic creature washes ashore in this place. A slug-like monster with wings and a breath that makes the ground tremble. And above all: WET. 'THE EXPLODING WHALE MUSICAL' is a story about the big questions of today, but above all brutal, poetic, and funny - with a nod to everything a musical can be. About kinship and about the question of what it means to truly care for someone - or something.
