A resistance story from the Tweede Wereldoorlog. Jan Vanlangendonck (Radio 1) tells in "De Geheime Kamer", a moving resistance story from the Tweede Wereldoorlog, based on true facts in his own family. Elly Aerden and Jan Van Rossem provide intimate music from the 40s. Let yourself be led inside for a moment in De Geheime Kamer. Not that of Harry Potter, but one that really existed... May 10, 1940. Germany invades Belgium. 18 days later, the Belgisch Leger surrenders and the entire territory is occupied. After only a few months, Jan Verlinden and his wife Irma Van Poyer commit their first act of resistance: they let a man wanted by the Germans go into hiding in their house. That house is quite large and has many rooms. It is a butcher shop annex pub, a large living area, and a spacious basement. In that basement, quite a few people will go into hiding during the war years. But after a few raids by the Germans, the basement is no longer safe and a room on the first floor is prepared. It becomes the ‘secret room’. This is a story based on archives and testimonies, but it is also an ode to those many tens of thousands who resisted the occupation of Belgium. An ode also to all who today resist every form of occupation. In the storytelling theater, there is tension, romance, nostalgia, history, current events, and live music from the 40s.
