The new show “Joan of Arc” will set the stage on fire starting next fall. A woman, a flame, a legend reborn in World Premiere. An iconic figure in French history, Joan of Arc inspires a new contemporary choreographic creation of great intensity. In this world premiere performed by Glen Lambrecht Ballet, Joan’s story is revisited through a powerful work that blends memory, inner visions, and historical tragedy. The show opens in Rouen in 1431. Joan awaits her destiny, locked in her cell. As time seems suspended, fragments of her life resurface. Her childhood in Domrémy, marked by war and violence, the mysterious appearance of the Voice that guides her steps, then the birth of a conviction that will change the course of history. Driven by extraordinary determination, Joan manages to meet Dauphin Charles and convince the court to entrust her with an army. Her presence upsets the established order. From the court of Chinon to the decisive battles of Orléans, she leads the French troops towards hope and victory, finally leading to the coronation of Charles VII in Reims. But glory quickly gives way to isolation. Captured in Compiègne and delivered to her enemies, Joan finds herself at the heart of an implacable trial. Between interrogations, doubts, and visions, her fight becomes internal: resist, deny, or remain faithful to her mission. Through intense choreographic writing and immersive staging, Joan of Arc plunges the audience into a dramatic fresco where battles, royal ceremonies, and mystical visions follow one another. Dance becomes the language of an extraordinary destiny, between faith, courage, and sacrifice.
