Claudio Monteverdi - San Marco Vespers by La Sfera del Canto

La Sfera del Canto is a new Leuven vocal ensemble. 18 outstanding singers, seasoned in reinterpreting works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, brings the most beautiful pearls under the direction of Luc Laurent. Inspired by historical performance practices, La Sfera del Canto always seeks the balance between vocal transparency and emotion. The collaboration with specialized musicians on authentic instruments – strings, wind instruments and basso continuo – forms an essential part of the timbre and artistic vision of the ensemble. In collaboration with the instrumental ensemble Les Symphoniaques, which consists of 12 musicians, La Sfera del Canto de San Marco Vespers van Monteverdi brings to Dendermonde. The work is a reconstruction of a vesper service from the Basiliek van San Marco in Venice, where Monteverdi was active as chapel master from 1613. Tickets can be bought at Visit Dendermonde, or paid in cash on site.
