Dendermonde full of stories - Dendermonde Martelaarstad

Dendermonde is full of stories. Big and small, old and new, surprising and striking. With 'Dendermonde vol verhalen' (Dendermonde full of stories), you as an individual can join a group walk with a guide every second Sunday of the month. On Sunday, November 8, you can participate in the walk 'Dendermonde Martelaarstad'. In 1914, Dendermonde was confronted with the uncommonly harsh reality of the ‘Groote Oorlog’. The city is therefore in the illustrious list of Belgische Martelaarsteden. Our guide not only dwells on the military aspect of World War I in Dendermonde, but also and especially on the impact of this conflict on the daily lives of so many people, the 'small stories' of the 'Groote Oorlog'.
