After more than fifty years of career, the rock'n'roll pioneers Uriah Heep are saying goodbye to intensive touring with ‘The Magician's Farewell’. The legendary British formation will come to greet its Belgian public one last time on Tuesday, November 17 at Cirque Royal de Bruxelles. Formed in the late 1960s, at a pivotal period in the history of rock music, Uriah Heep quickly established itself as one of the most iconic British bands of progressive rock and heavy metal. Alongside Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple, the group helped shape a heavy metal that is at once powerful, melodic, and resolutely British. Its sound signature relies notably on sophisticated vocal harmonies, which earned it the nickname of « Beach Boys of heavy metal », as well as on the striking use of the Hammond organ and the famous wah-wah guitar of Mick Box. Their first album, ‘Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble’ (1970), now considered a founder of the genre, marks the starting point of an exceptional career. Their peak occurred in the early 1970s with albums that became cult such as ‘Demons and Wizard's’, ‘The Magician's Birthday’, and ‘Sweet Freedom’, which met with immense international success and notably climbed into the American Top 40. Over the decades, Uriah Heep accumulated 25 studio albums, 21 live albums, sold nearly 40 million records around the world, and gave more than 4000 concerts in 60 countries. Despite numerous lineup changes, Mick Box being the only founding member still present, Uriah Heep has shown remarkable longevity, without ever losing its energy or its privileged bond with the public.
