Het Manteliusensemble cordially invites you to their autumn concert "Reflections", which will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Saint Lambert Church in Kiewit, Hasselt. The concert is led by conductor Jos Cuppens.
In this concert we want to take you on a musical journey in which memories and reflection are central. Various works each tell their own story in their own way about what was, what is and what is yet to come. Sometimes recognizable and familiar, sometimes surprising and new, but always with the power to evoke something, to touch or to make one pause for a moment.
An important part of the program is the music of the British composer James Whitbourn. We return to his impressive work Son of God Mass which brings together spirituality and modern tone colors in a special way. In addition, we also bring the Requiem Canticorum, an expressive and quiet work in which themes such as memory, farewell and hope are central.
The program further includes works by Elaine Hagenberg, Eric Whitacre, Eriks Esenvalds and Stephen Paulus with music that further responds to the theme of reflection and memory.
For this concert we collaborate with Leen Janssen on soprano saxophone and Veerle Cornelis at the organ. Sarah Van Mol joins us as soprano soloist. Wim Vanmechelen takes on the role of narrator and will connect the various musical works with stories and texts.
We hope to welcome you on November 8!
