Author, director, and scenographer Dimitri Leue dives with visible pleasure into the courtly art of seduction of Maurice Maeterlinck and sets Frank Focketyn and Rashif El Kaoui against each other in a playful, sizzling duel of love and jealousy. The courtiers Pelléas and Golaud wander through the forest in search of Mélisande, but mainly collide with each other in a whirlwind of feelings, humor, and underlying threat. The result is a light-footed but charged fairy tale for adults, full of forbidden love, melancholy, and foolish desire. The music of Debussy gets a fresh, jazzy make-over by Antoon Offeciers, played live together with Tim Vandenbergh and Karel De Backer. Pelleas&Melisande&Pelleas thus becomes a playful, musical, and irresistible rediscovery of a classic love story.
