Pelleas&Melisande&Pelleas

Author, director, and scenographer Dimitri Leue dives with visible pleasure into the courtly art of seduction of Maurice Maeterlinck and sets Frank Focketyn and Rashif El Kaoui against each other in a playful, sizzling duel of love and jealousy. The courtiers Pelléas and Golaud wander through the forest in search of Mélisande, but mainly collide with each other in a whirlwind of feelings, humor, and underlying threat. The result is a light-footed but charged fairy tale for adults, full of forbidden love, melancholy, and foolish desire. The music of Debussy gets a fresh, jazzy make-over by Antoon Offeciers, played live together with Tim Vandenbergh and Karel De Backer.
