In Kerff tells Sebastien Dewaele the story of Marcel Kerff, a butcher's son and cyclist from the Voeren region anno 1900. Dewaele does not make Kerff a hero, but sketches the portrait of a man who spent his life serving in the shadow of others and remained true to who he was: a domestique in the race, a devoted brother and later a butler who continued to serve until his death.
Kerff is a live music-supported monologue about servitude, compassion and the value of the small. As Terwijl Kerff shares his life's course with humor and passion, a story unfolds about racing, about being human, about love for family and about a quest for humility in a world that today seems to want to celebrate only heroes.
Following Na Marinus (2018) and Once upon a time in de Westhoek (2022), Sebastien Dewaele makes a third performance at Compagnie Cecilia that zooms in on moving but forgotten heritage, about ordinary people who end up in grand history.
