Free guided tour of the exhibition Made to be painted
Met Gemaakt to be painted, the Emile Van Dorenmuseum (Genk) and the Jakob Smitsmuseum (Mol) join forces for a unique double exhibition about the Campine artist colonies (1840–1920).
Our guide takes you through the Campine landscape – with its heathlands, forests, fens and simple village views – and shows how it grew into a main character in art.
In In Genk the focus is on the landscape and painting in the open air, in Mol on the life and spirituality of Jakob Smits and his surroundings. Together, both museums form one fascinating route that makes you look differently at the Campine – then and now.
Featuring work by masters like Jakob Smits, Adrien-Joseph Heymans, Henry van de Velde, Joseph Coosemans and Emile Van Doren.
