Following the Oscar-winning No Other Land (in 2025 in Cinema Fort Liezele) Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor return to the Gaza Strip. The documentary received a 23-minute standing ovation in Venice for its revealing look at the systems behind the violence against Palestinian civilians.
"We made NAZA out of the realization that it is our duty to use our position as Israelis to examine the systems underlying the mass murder of Palestinian civilians, for which our country is responsible. While filming over the past three years, we found ourselves asking the exact same questions as our grandparents' generation and throughout the 20th century: how can one population allow the total dehumanization of another? What are the inner workings of such a system?
Many of the revelations in the film were published almost immediately after our discovery of them, in the months following the October 7 attacks, by The Guardian (one of the producers of NAZA), in collaboration with our reporting partners +972 Magazine and Local Call. The film allows us to explore something deeper than we could with investigative journalism alone: not only the words that are spoken, but also those that are unspoken, the silence. It is up to all of us to break that silence," write the filmmakers ahead of the premiere at the Venice Film Festival where NAZA won the Jury Prize.
🎤 The screening will be introduced by Vluchtelingenwerk Klein-Brabant Joos Wauters volunteer coordinator.
