Cultural Centre: Veranda

A parcel of Quebec in Comines. It was at Barfly, “the headquarters of Bluegrass in Montreal,” that Veranda was born, from a shared passion for bluegrass music and old country. Catherine-Audrey Lachapelle and Léandre Joly-Pelletier, the two founding members of the group, come from different backgrounds, which adds so much richness to their work. Catherine-Audrey, initially an actress, brings freshness and sensitivity to their music. Léandre, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, nourishes the songs with his virtuosity. Veranda offers a perfect blend of influences, skillfully matching the simplicity of old country with the virtuosity of bluegrass, and delivers rich melodies enhanced by refined harmonic work. Clearly, the duo piques the curiosity of the public and the most seasoned bluegrass fans.
