Comedy Oostende @ Vayamundo - The Joke King

‘De Moppenkoning’ is a show full of jokes, stories, and strong memories, brought by Sven De Ridder, Fokke van der Meulen, and each time a surprising guest. An ode to the joke itself, to Tony Bell, and above all to their friend and king of jokes Brik Van Dyck. Earlier, Sven, Brik, and Fokke already took to the stage with two successful shows: ‘Moppen Aan Den Toog’, a homage to all-round entertainer Tony Bell, and ‘De Moppentappers’, a journey through the history of the joke. Following Brik's sudden farewell, Sven and Fokke are now doing what he saw as his life's mission: continuing to spread the gospel of the joke. That is why Sven and Fokke are bringing a fresh mix of the best from the previous shows, supplemented with new jokes, personal stories, and a guest joke-teller who each time helps stoke the fire. Sven De Ridder hardly needs any introduction. What few people know is that he personally knew Tony Bell and memorized his jokes one by one. Fokke van der Meulen is the driving force behind comedy café ‘The Joker’ in Antwerp, coach of countless comedians, and proud owner of an impressive collection of comedy records. For this edition, they are bringing none other than Rob Van Oudenhoven to Ostend. “De Moppenkoning is a warm tribute and an irresistible plea for the power of a good joke.”
