The past year Joppe De Campeneere got lost in Priscilla's story in search of a suitable form to capture her. Wordt Priscilla a novel, a documentary, a performance? In 'Performing Priscilla, a work in progress' Joppe De Campeneere makes the audience part of their writing process, in medias res. The text is unfinished, the monologue is not a performance, the quest is only just beginning. What happens when Priscilla crawls out of the google doc and lands on a stage? In The Singer weaves Bunny Cadag theater, song, handicraft and movement. From the trans body as a place of femininity and queer memory, she tells stories about what is passed on from generation to generation — also what hurts. With needle and thread, voice and movement, she makes something new out of that heritage: a story about healing and freedom, told from a transfeminine perspective.
