An incisive performance about (youth) care and social engagement, which asks the question of what we can really mean for each other as humans.
“We found you at the edge of the road. Or you searched for us and only then found us. You were lost. Lost everything. But now you are here. In de Hyenalaan.”
De Hyenalaan is a performance about (youth) care. About how we organize that care as a society and as a friend, classmate, grandchild, lover, or neighbor. What can we mean for someone? And what does social engagement mean?
At the basis of De Hyenalaan lie sharp testimonies of people who are confronted with poverty, mental suffering, addiction, or care institutions.

“Against a large abstract house of plexiglass, symbol for the safe haven that every human has a right to, four actors lend their voice to real experiences from special youth care. As simple as it is ingenious is their mix between acting and storytelling, documentary and masquerade, small poetry and the large social framework.” – De Standaard ★★★★★
“Michael Vandewalle and Marlies Tack make with De Hyenalaan a very fine, touching, and above all confronting performance. It is about idealistic youth workers, suspicious neighborhood residents, and children with a torn life. Those children are not to be seen on stage, but are nevertheless very present. Just like in society.” – Pzazz
“A firm indictment against the prevailing malaise in youth care, without falling into sloganeering or didactic theater. That is what Michaël Vandewalle and Marlies Tack bring in the layered De Hyenalaan. It is a tribute to who effectively keeps youth care upright and a heartfelt call for more community care.” – Etcetera
