This is how you discover the expo in a different way. Eyes to Fly With is the first major retrospective exhibition of the well-known Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide in Belgium. In her work, she explores themes such as identity, social relations, and transience. The title of the expo, Eyes to Fly With, is inspired by one of her self-portraits and also refers to Graciela Iturbides vision of photography: as a way to explore both herself and the world. For Voor Iturbide, photography works liberatingly and opens up new perspectives on reality. Over Lieve Blancquaert Lieve Blancquaert (°1963) is a photographer and documentary maker. She studied film and photography at KASK Ghent. Social commitment forms a common thread through her versatile oeuvre, in which photography, film, and documentary come together. She has made and collaborated on several documentary series for VRT, including Birth Day, Wedding Day, Last Days, Let’s Talk About Sex, Het Laatste Portret, Wij zijn Europa, and Mirakel nr. 71.
