OnlyFans for Therapy - Verona Verbakel

Verona's list of triggers is endless. Scampi's, hamsters, Hawaiian shirts. They all bring back trauma. At a little table, laptop in front of her, she operates the buttons. She clicks open self-made videos, photos, we see what questions she asks AI. The sums in her Excel spreadsheet calculate that lifelong therapy would cost her – taking inflation into account – some € 226,215.24. While the live Verona wraps herself in silence, the screen Verona bursts with emotion. What is real and what is acted does not matter. What matters is that she grabs you by the scruff of the neck and doesn't let go. “Few theater makers continue to captivate with what they bring to the stage, especially if they remain faithful to the themes they already touched upon earlier. Verona Verbakel is such an exception to the rule.” ***** Concertnews.be “Never before have we seen an audience leave a hall so quietly. One of the most harrowing performances of last year.” De Standaard “A rock-solid, clever performance full of humor.” Etcetera “Verbakel does this with videos that show pain, self-relativization, humor, even more pain, doubt, and an improbable amount of resilience.” Knack Focus Deze performance contains themes around abuse, which can be experienced as emotionally taxing or triggering.
