Sounds from clay? Yes, at the request of Klankennest, artist Gemma Luz Bosch creates sculptures that produce unique sounds through their shape and position. In combination with the playful shapes of the creations, a wonderful world is created, which the audience can manipulate together with the performers, so that new sounds and shapes are constantly created. For their latest creation, Klankennest is inspired by Flemish polyphony, early baroque music and the texture and creative possibilities of clay. Sounds are formed by unique clay sculptures that artist Gemma Luz Bosch creates for this performance. They form reference points in a landscape of natural clay that constantly changes in appearance and sound through playful manipulation by performers and the audience. Just like the animal – graceful and playful, familiar and mysterious – OKAPI takes the audience through contrasting worlds of old and new music, familiar and innovative instruments, structure and freedom.
