Hoewel Sonoro Quartet was only founded in 2019, the ensemble quickly made a name for itself, including a prize at the Bartók World Competition in Budapest in 2021. In 2022, it was selected as one of the ten string quartets for the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition and as ECHO Rising Stars, which resulted in a tour of the most prominent concert halls in Europe.
On the program is a mix of classics and lesser-known repertoire, with works by Joseph Haydn, Béla Bartók and Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert opens with a clear and lively trio for violin, cello and piano by Haydn. This is followed by three pieces for string quartet by Bartók, characterized by sharp rhythms and strong contrasts. The concert concludes with Beethoven, in which the four string players challenge each other in an energetic interplay full of tension and variation.
An evening in which these works come to life in the hands of one of the most promising young quartets of this moment.
J. Haydn – Op. 20, No. 5 (violin, cello, piano)
B. Bartók – Three pieces for string quartet
L. van Beethoven – Op. 59, No. 1
