Film Toxic Harvest

As part of Food.Film.Fest, there is a screening of "toxic harvest" on 19/11 at LichtCultuur. This organization is a collaboration of the Mondiale Raad, Wervel, Oxfam Wereldwinkel, non-profit organization WOP! and Zero Waste. Toxic Harvest is a powerful documentary that makes environmental justice and the dark side of industrial agriculture visible, while at the same time showing hopeful agro-ecological alternatives. The film exposes the hidden impact of hazardous pesticides and takes the situation in South Africa as an example. The makers show how agricultural poison affects soil, water, air, and human health. Through poignant testimonies from farmworkers, the film reveals a system in which profit weighs heavier than health. Global power dynamics play a major role: pesticides that are banned in Europe are still exported to countries in the Globale Zuiden, where people and the environment bear the consequences of an agricultural model that leaves strong colonial traces. Ideal for anyone who wants to understand the link between agriculture, health, and global inequality.
