On Sunday 1 November, the activity 'Leven en Dood, anders' will take place in Ver-Assebroek. Starting at 4:00 PM, more than 10 stops will allow visitors to pause and reflect on saying goodbye and mourning.
Word and image, encounters, conversation, or in complete silence, there are so many ways to feel uniquely connected to those who, here or elsewhere, today or longer ago, feel pain from a farewell. There is poetry and atmospheric music, attention to mourning rituals within various philosophies of life, and reflection on various aspects of life and death, from perspectives other than just the usual ones.
You can also enter the church, take a seat, and spend a moment in remembrance. Taizé chants will be sung in the church.
The 10 stops are scattered around the old cemetery of Ver-Assebroek. The route will, of course, be atmospherically illuminated.
'Leven en Dood, anders' is an initiative of the Pastorale Eenheid Sint-Trudo Assebroek in collaboration with the Islamitisch Cultureel Centrum Brugge, the local community of the Verenigde Protestantse Kerk in Belgium, Mourning and Verliescafé Vlaanderen, Omwarming (an operation affiliated with the Heidehuis).
