Forty years ago, six young fashion designers from Antwerp conquered the international runways and changed the fashion landscape forever. With their avant-garde designs, Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dirk Van Saene, and Marina Yee België have placed themselves at the top of the international fashion world. They quickly became known as De Zes van Antwerpen, a label that, despite their divergent visions, united them into a mythical entity. But was that group identity reality or primarily a construction of the outside world?
