The idea to interpret his father's repertoire had been in Marcel's mind for a longer time. With multi-instrumentalists Martin Bakker (Nits, Freek de Jonge…) and Rens van der Zalm (Frank Boeijen, Youp van ’t Hek…), son Marcel goes browsing in the richly filled oeuvre of Boudewijn. As one of the most famous singer-songwriters of the Netherlands, Boudewijn de Groot started as a protest singer and later became known with, among others, ‘Welterusten meneer de president’, ‘Het Land van Maas en Waal’, ‘Als de rook om je hoofd is verdwenen’, ‘Prikkebeen’, ‘Jimmy’… In ‘Marcel zingt Boudewijn’, the audience gets a beautiful overview with stories and anecdotes from a unique career.
