'De Vader' is a physical performance about victimization, masculinity and power. In a hybrid form between performance, singing and text, the makers try to get a grip on the patriarchal scripts that are still at work today.
De Vader is inspired by the home drama of the same name by August Strindberg (1887). Together with Anna Franziska Jäger and Rodrigo Batista, the duo Marieke&Sophia reworks this dated, sexist piece into a confronting performance.
What if Strindberg's worldview is less outdated than we think?
