Wonderzoekers - Homesickness (8+) - Sofie Palmers & Katrien Pierlet

'Wonderzoekers' is a playful podcast series for children in which Sofie Palmers & Katrien Pierlet wonder about the inside of humans. Besides a podcast, they are also making a theater performance out of this. In this live episode, together with their guests, they take you into the wonderful feeling of 'Heimwee' (Homesickness). A funny and occasionally moving search for that nagging feeling. 'Heimwee'. Suddenly it appears, when you are in bed, far away from home. Because you miss your room, the smell of home, or that one stuffed animal you forgot to put in your suitcase (typical!). What is homesickness actually? Is it in your belly? In your heart? Or in your head? And when does something feel like home? Is that a place? Or can you also find home inside yourself? As true Wonderzoekers, Sofie and Katrien know what to do. In this live podcast, they go in search of tips to make homesickness better. They meet a house that misses its residents and wonder if animals also get homesick. Migratory birds perhaps? And what if you have two houses because your parents live apart, or your family was born in another country? Sofie sets out, all alone, to feel if she, as an adult, can still get homesick, while her sister builds a first-aid-for-homesickness kit. Besides the story of 'Heimwee', you also get a look behind the scenes. In this performance, you also see them actually making a podcast live: with microphones, live music, and artisanal foley sounds. Because what does homesickness sound like? Can we travel via music to the roots of Aicha, whose family lives in Algeria? And what does a fried teddy bear or an Italian moped sound like? Katrien and Sofie literally pull out all the stops to make that one sound. And sometimes you are also just allowed to close your eyes and listen. Sofie Palmers (SKaGeN, fABULEUS, ...) and Katrien Pierlet (Studio Orka, Ultima Thule, ...) have both earned their stripes in the theater world. Their love for storytelling brought them from the stage to the world of audio. For example, they made the mini-series 'Radio Fiona'. Now they join forces in 'Wonderzoekers', a podcast in which science, philosophy, and fantasy come together. The podcast series will be launched in the autumn of 2026 and will be available to listen to on all podcast streaming channels.
