Marvara // Anthomania (premiere, album release)

Doedelzakdeerne Marieke Van Ransbeeck traveled through the Hoge Noorden for two years, gathered Swedish, Finnish, and Danish musicians around her along the way, and returned with a festive mix of badass melodies, devilish ‘polskas’, and sexy slows. She was promptly named one of Klara’s Twenties, won a Flanders Folk Award, and played festivals flat from Belgium to Scandinavia. Rond Marieke gathered the band Marvara, with Belgian and Scandinavian musicians. They bring feel-good folk of her hand, which gives voice to her experiences and memories of her breathtaking musical adventures in the far north. In January 2023, Marvara won a Flanders Folk Award for 'most promising band' and was nominated for 'best live band'. Marvara has built a wild live reputation at various festivals and stages in Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, and the UK. In the autumn of 2026, Anthomania, Marvara’s second record, will be released. 'Anthomania' stands for an intense passion or obsession for flowers, a theme that fits perfectly with the vibrant, colorful energy of Marvara. The new music is presented via a 'blooming & booming' show full of energy and feel-good folk. On bagpipes, accordion, electric bass, percussion, and guitar, they take you on a blooming trip full of worldly sounds, lively grooves, and musical stories.
