On the small square near the library of Tienen there is a small statue named 'Pikke Stijkès'. In the dialect of Tienen, 'stijkès' (new spelling 'Staikès') is a stickleback, but the statue refers to a local boy who lived in the 'Impasse Vollon', opposite the Katholieke Normaalschool. Priesterleraar Leon Rubbens was inspired by the mischief of this rascal and wrote a book in 1952 in the Tienen dialect: 'Pikke Stijkès, De Gramoetse van nen Tinse Kwèèker'.
During the walk along the places mentioned in the book, we follow the adventures of Pikke (Pierre) and listen to a number of excerpts from the book in our juicy regional language.
