Food.Film.Fest: Eat More Trees

De Spaanse farmer Alfonso and his wife Yanniek stubbornly try to stop the desertification of their precious land. Their place of residence La Junquera is, like many other regions, plagued by endless drought. With renewed agricultural techniques and a love for their profession, they look for ways to restore their soil, but can they actually turn the tide? During an inspiring journey from the Amazon rainforest to the fields of Europe and America, this hopeful documentary explores how agroforestry can regenerate our landscapes, restore biodiversity, and perhaps forever change how we produce food and even what we eat. We meet the pioneers and visionaries taking the lead in this and see with our own eyes how food forests can contribute to a fairer, more sustainable, and regenerative world. Arne Focketyn has co-directed more than a hundred episodes of the VRT magazine "Fans of Flanders" and was cameraman/editor of the internationally acclaimed documentary "Duty of Care". In "Eat More Trees", he turns his lens to the growing problem of overproduction and overconsumption in agriculture and the challenges of climate change. The voice-over was spoken by Maaike Cafmeyer.
