A Comedy of Errors

After the successful philosophical talk comedy Tsjik Tsjak Wham Thomas Claessens & Hendrik Kegels join forces again. This time they take one of Shakespeare's most underrated works under the magnifying glass: The Comedy of Errors. In this reworking, four doppelgängers meet at the start of the performance. They have the same coat on, the same sneakers, and even the same mustache! They look so much like each other that they themselves have trouble distinguishing themselves from each other. What starts as a small confusion quickly develops into a tangle of misunderstandings. In an attempt to emphasize their differences, the four characters lose themselves in an increasingly absurd logic. They start playing each other to make it clear how different they are, they put on each other's identical clothes, but they get deeper and deeper entangled in a labyrinth of identity swaps. Until they not only no longer know who is who, but even no longer know who they are themselves. What if we are not as special as we like to believe ourselves? What if you can be replaced by someone who thinks they are a better version of you? Claessens and Kegels find out why we feel that constant urge to distinguish ourselves so much from each other, why we are so afraid of not being unique.
