Opening Doors / Esmé Bos & Bart Voet

Music theater with Opening Doors vzw & HETGEVOLG & CC Leopoldsburg in co-production with Het Laatste Bedrijf Opening Doors is an inclusive theater group that has been working since 2008 with people with a physical and/or intellectual disability. The group counts about thirty performers from day centers in Leopoldsburg and Lummen, who have consciously chosen theater as a day activity for more than fifteen years. Under artistic guidance of Stefan Perceval, Opening Doors grew into an experienced player group with performances at home and abroad, sold-out halls in Leopoldsburg, and a permanent place within the inclusive art landscape. For STILLE STEMMEN, the players go together with Esmé Bos and Bart Voet in search of sound, voice, and musicality. With acoustic instruments, self-discovered sounds, a unique theatrical sound world arises.. STILLE STEMMEN is a performance about being heard. About their voice, their movements, their strength, and their stories; about how they literally and figuratively stand or hang in the world, or sit and how they move through that world: singing, mumbling, shouting, dancing, shuffling, running, trembling. They go in search of everyone's voice. To the scared voice, the sharp voice, the soft and warm voice. To sounds that make happy and give words to that. Thus arises a layered, poetic, and moving music theater performance that makes audible what often remains unheard.
