Under the spell of the HORN

VBSO autumn concert "In the grip of the horn". Tribute to William Blockmans. In 2007, William Blockmans was the initiator and co-founder of the Flemish Brabants Symfonisch Orkest (VBSO). He immediately became a playing member on the horn and was a particularly driven president of the orchestra, a role he fulfilled until his death on April 19, 2016. Under his leadership, he gave Zaventem a new and unique musical impetus. His legacy lives on in the VBSO and in the culture of Zaventem. The autumn concert on Saturday, November 21, 2026, in Cultuurcentrum De Factorij is a tribute to his life and work. Under the direction of Rik Ghesquière and with the collaboration of Horns for all Seasons (H4aS) and soloist Dorian Scheck (horn), a varied program will be performed, including: Hornflakes: a selection from the classical horn repertoire (H4aS horn ensemble) Horn Concerto in E-flat major, K.447 – W.A. Mozart (soloist Dorian Scheck) Symphony No. 4 "De Tragische" – Franz Schubert (VBSO)
