Nele tries too hard. All her life she has been a well-behaved child. She scores all tens on every report card and eats all her vegetables with a grim smile. Nele does what is expected. Nele is a bit stressed out. And so tired, dead tired. Nele wants something different for once. Nele turned forty. She is too old for this. It has to stop. It is time to finally become a naughty child. Mijn Best is the first solo performance by Nele Needs A Holiday. With new songs and way too long linking texts. Do you sometimes feel like the only loser on this planet? No worries, Nele is here to comfort you with a series of relatable songs full of self-deprecation. Bittersweet never tasted so good before. Nele Van den Broeck writes a weekly column for De Standaard. Her books Halfvolwassen (Half-adult) and Iemand Anders (published last year and already in its fourth printing) received strong reviews. Nele earned her stripes in the theater but also on concert stages with her rock band Nele Needs A Holiday. She provided a roar of laughter in Totdatzeerdoet, a production together with Roos Van Acker and Pascale Platel that you could also see in CC De Factorij. PRESS 'Intriguing and disarming songs.' - Juryrapport Humo's Rock Rally 'It has been a long time since we left a concert with such a blissful smile on our faces as with Nele. (...) The music sounded particularly fresh and the lyrics were at times not only hilarious, they were also full of, sometimes highly absurd, but always very fine and witty trouvailles. Van den Broeck did her own thing uncompromisingly against all applicable rules and that was a pleasure to see and hear. This was really on fire, Nele is honest and real.' - TAZette 'Nele fuses flair, sarcasm, and relatability into sparkling cabaret.' - Juryrapport Theater Aan Zee
