Lézard Music

Lézard

Cactus Muziekcentrum, Bruges
€11–18
In a sparkling explosion of confetti, the Ghent combo Lézard suddenly seems to be everywhere. Their debut record ‘Que Se Passe-t-il’ made Belgian music journalists from Humo to De Standaard reach for the phone, and with their coquettish version of ‘Rock Lobster’ at ‘Ik vraag het aan’, they got the entire panel on board - including an impressively grinning Aaron Blommaert, even by his standards. For those who keep an eye on the exciting laboratory of Belpop, Lézard is of course no surprise. Als Oost-Flemish laureate of the opportunity course Sound Track, the band has been intensively prepared for several years in the belly of our live sector. After a few well-received singles and precisely aimed shows, Lézard is completely ready for the next step with their debut record. We can already predict: this is going to be great fun! Because with their splashing mix of post-punk, disco, glam rock, new wave, and electroclash, Lézard enters uncharted territory. A lick of snorted Studio 54 decadence here, a touch of absurdist Devo and danceable Talking Heads there, a greasy layer of indie sleaze over it and hop – there is Lézard, the nicest Belgian indie candy of the moment!
