What does it mean today to choose agriculture with trees?
Food Film Fest: Eat More Trees (80')
Within the program of Zebracinema we are screening the inspiring documentary Eat More Trees this year. The film takes you on a journey from the Amazon rainforest to farms in Europe and North America and examines how trees can regain a central place in our food system. Themes such as agroforestry, biodiversity, climate adaptation, and sustainable food production are central to this.
Using stories from farmers, researchers, and pioneers, the documentary shows how food production can go hand in hand with nature restoration. The film shows how trees can contribute to fertile soils, greater biodiversity, and climate-resilient agriculture, and offers a hopeful look at the future of our food supply.
Panel discussion after the film
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion in which various experts and practitioners delve deeper into the themes of the documentary and translate them to Flanders and our region.
The panel includes:
Ann Knaepen, moderator of the evening.
Arne Focketyn, director of Eat More Trees. For his documentary, he traveled the world in search of inspiring examples of agricultural systems where trees play a key role once again.
Jeroen Rappé, co-founder of Treehive and initiator of Fruitdas. He is committed to the development of agroforestry and other forms of tree farming as part of a sustainable food system.
Marc Muysoms of food forest De Nieuwe Hof in Sint-Truiden, one of the oldest food forests in Belgium and an inspiring example of how food production, biodiversity, and community building can reinforce each other.
The panel discussion offers room for various perspectives, concrete practical examples, and questions from the public.
