Five teenage mothers, one house, five stories. In Jeunes Mères we follow Jessica, Perla, Julie, Ariane, and Naïma, who are trying to shape their lives as young mothers in a shelter. Their youth is abruptly interrupted by the arrival of a baby. They share everything: they eat together, take care of their babies, and share their doubts, hopes, and dreams.
Based on real experiences from a Liège shelter, where it was also filmed. This film feels exceptionally warm and authentic. Jeunes Mères is ‘vintage’-Dardenne: inexperienced but authentic actors, a social theme, and a social-realistic film style.
