Het Prinsenhof is a charming residential neighborhood with a history to match. Long ago, a magnificent palace stood here, the birthplace of none other than Keizer Karel. Of the castle, only the Donkere Poort still stands. Today in the Prinsenhof you can enjoy strolling through picturesque streets. Nearby lies the Saint Elizabeth Béguinage, the oldest béguinage in Ghent and an oasis of calm in the busy city. During the walk we also visit the convent garden of the Geschoeide Karmelieten with the remnants of the Lion's Court.
