In the mid-eighties, John Davidson grows up in a small Scottish town. He dreams of becoming a professional football player, but the day an important talent scout comes to watch a match, John suddenly gets strange tics. He also keeps shouting very inappropriate things, which often gets him into trouble. Eventually, the diagnosis comes: Tourette's syndrome, a condition that is still very unknown, which causes John to encounter a lot of misunderstanding. The inspiring, true story of John Davidson, who with his honesty and humor helped the world better understand what it means to live with Tourette's syndrome. This funny and extremely moving film acknowledges on the one hand how laughable Davidson's tics and swearing seem at first glance, but does not shy away from the heartbreaking challenges the disease brings with it. With a rock-solid acting performance by Robert Aramayo, who recently won the BAFTA for Beste Acteur - and thus beat, among others, Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio - this film is a clever mix of humor, authenticity, and humanity.
