RADIO POUPOULE - Flemish Radio Choir & I SOLISTI

A reconstruction of a historical radio broadcast in which music, word, and memory come together in an ode to liberation and the power of art in times of war. In 1943, an airplane dropped thousands of copies of ‘Liberté’, a poem by Paul Éluard, over occupied France. Francis Poulenc clandestinely composed his cantata ‘Figure Humaine’ on it, an ode to liberation. In 1946, the predecessor of the Vlaams Radiokoor performed this cantata during a special broadcast on Sender Brüssel, which had just been liberated from Nazism. Eighty years later, Filip Jordens, surrounded by the musicians of I SOLISTI and the Vlaams Radiokoor, crawls into the skin of Francis Poulenc in a staged reconstruction of this radio broadcast.
