Ine Ubben Theatre

Ine Ubben

Tue, 17 Nov 2026 · 14:00
Schouwburg (podium op podium), Maasmechelen
Do you remember your grandmother's handkerchief, neatly ironed and with a hint of perfume? Or the crumpled handkerchief in your father's trouser pocket where you were allowed to dry your tears? In the performance BEWAAR, performance artist Ine Ubben takes you into a world full of memories, stories, anecdotes, and silences. During the performance, the theater floor is transformed into an intimate landscape of people and things. You tie personal stories into handkerchiefs. BEWAAR is a transformation ritual, in which the everyday is cherished. Textile crafts transform the handkerchiefs throughout the performance. In a world full of chaos and stimuli, BEWAAR invites you to share, play, and stand still. Ine Ubben makes object and participatory performances. As an activist of the small and the vulnerable, she sets up encounters between people and everyday, often personal objects. She is fascinated by what things can tell us. In 2023, Ine Ubben de Boze Wolf Prijs won for Aanstormend Talent. In April 2024, her new performance BEWAAR premiered at the international object and puppet theater festival Boze Wolf in Aarschot.
