TrioFenix

TrioFenix is a Belgian string trio that has established itself as a reference in the national and international chamber music world. Together, the three musicians explore the repertoire for string trio with a rare unity of thought and performance. For the Beethoven year, Triofenix brings string trios in full in Maasmechelen Beethovens, spread over two concerts. Within the impressive oeuvre of Ludwig van Beethoven, the string trios occupy a special place. Although they are performed less often, they form a crucial link in Beethoven's development as a composer of chamber music. Het Strijktrio op. 3 belongs to Beethoven's earliest large-scale chamber music works. The six-part work still clearly connects to the tradition of Mozart and Haydn, but at the same time already shows the young Beethoven testing boundaries. With the trios op. 9, Beethoven reaches a new level of compositional maturity. Trio op. 9 no. 1 is a key moment in that. The three instruments become full-fledged conversation partners: no instrument dominates and the musical argumentation gains a symphonic dimension. Through these trios, we learn to see Beethoven's chamber music in a new light. 2027 is dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven. On the occasion of his 200th anniversary of death, CC Maasmechelen presents a diverse program, which is an ode to the genius of this composer.
