Yaaba (from 4 years old)

A meeting between two continents, two countries, two cultures, three companies, five women. A joint Belgium–Burkina Faso creation, which weaves the links between grandmothers, mothers, and toddlers through stories of yesterday and today. YAABA means grandmother in Mooré, the language of the Mossi in Burkina Faso. On stage, two grandmothers, one Burkinabe, the other Belgian, tell their stories. By shelling their personal memories, they address in turn the origin of life, the relationship to the land, to the aging body, the link between the living and the dead, the jokes of everyday life, the love of grandchildren. Between philosophical questions, confidences, playful moments, and anecdotes alluding to their roots, they speak, sing, play, and manipulate the elements of scenography like a big game of interlocking objects.
