Wild Classical Music Ensemble & Fournèz
Experimental and passionate mix of punk, rock and fiery transverse flute.
Het Wild Classical Music Ensemble brings musicians with and without disabilities together in a unique band. Rock riffs, exhilarating rhythms, captivating synths, multi-voiced and multilingual vocals provide a wonderful combo that cannot be experienced anywhere else. The ensemble originated in 2007 in Kortrijk and has released 5 records under changing line-ups. The highlight was undoubtedly the collaboration with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), with whom the ensemble has experimented a lot and made the film Hell Gate. In 2023 they even went on tour together.
In 2024 they met musicians from the local music scene of Réunion, where music is deeply rooted in maloya and séga. Together with the newly formed group Fournèz, consisting of Gilles Lauret, Baptiste Clément and Benjamin Rebolle, the ensemble went on an experimental adventure with the aim of a new record and tour.
In this project, the ensemble tries to merge the diverse ways in which they and Fournèz deal with music and language. With interwoven poetic fragments from French and Creole. Zangeres Françoiz Breut was enlisted to act as a bridge between these different language worlds.
The release show of this new project is with us! Come and discover it on November 27 in Diksmuide.
