Nature story walk in Wijgmaalbroek

Trees were sacred to Celts, Germanic peoples, Greeks, and Romans. But also in our Middle Ages, a number of tree rituals did not perish. Hidden under a Christian cloak, the worship remained. Yet many trees also evoked fear. What made the medieval man so afraid of witches and devils? During this walk, we stand still at the superstition of our ancestors and dive into a world of magic, fairy tales, and legends. Flowers, animals, and natural phenomena are also highlighted in their mythology, their traditions, and their symbolism. Waterproof shoes are necessary. Boots are highly recommended in persistent wet weather. Only suitable for “outdoor” buggies with large wheels, not for other buggies and wheelchair users.
